A divided story where not everyone will survive

In cities everywhere—in plain sight, yet ignored by all—clandestine prisons have been erected, buried, or built. These are places far removed from society where suspected spellcasters, those who refuse to submit to the established order, or anyone accused too insistently by a neighbor are locked away. Places where people vanish, along with all hope. Yet, amidst the rise of alchemy following the ban on magic, some suspect this is merely a pretext to acquire test subjects for experimentation. Until now. Blood mages are growing bolder by the day. Underground mages are adopting other unethical methods to survive and keep spellcasters alive. Perhaps the next objective for these two factions of mages will be to eradicate places like these.
